Ballet training is where musicality, core stability, posture and strength are developed. Ballet encourages confidence and discipline as well as developing imagination and easy to learn at any age.

POINTE WORK

Previous ballet experience is needed and must be over 13, teacher will decide. (IDTA SYLLABUS)

Pointe technique is part of the classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work. It is where the dancer will stand on the tip of their toes in specially designed shoes that will support the full weight of the dancer. The shoes are much harder than ballet shoes. The effect is simply beautiful.

MODERN

Varying rhythms and styles for fun musical interpretation. (IDTA SYLLABUS)

Modern Theatre Dance is a rhythmic dance style. It is often seen on the stages of musical productions and is known for its theatrical qualities. This is a highly energetic dance style. Whatever the atmosphere of the class, it’s a wonderful opportunity to react and interact with other students and really dance to express their feelings. Modern dance is FUN FUN FUN!

Themed Modern

Themed Modern is dancing the modern dance style but each term students will be given a theme to dance about, it could be what the students are learning about at school, the teacher could choose a theme or students can pick a theme. At the end of each term the students will have the opportunity to perform to parents at the end of the class to show what they have created together. This is a great way of using imagination, working together and learning a new style of dance.

TAP DANCE

A gentle, rhythmical and enjoyable way to keep fit and has rewarding benefits. (IDTA SYLLABUS)

Want to make music with your feet? Tap is a great workout especially for the butt and legs. Tap is a fun and energetic class using your feet to make sounds to create rhythm and patterns which improve overall co-ordination, timing and musicality. Tap dance is a theatrical art form often seen on stage in musicals. TAP IS RHYTHM – RHYTHM IS TAP!

COMMERCIAL JAZZ

A high energy dance form, combined with Commercial, Street and Hip-hop styles, taught to a range of the latest music.

Commercial Jazz is known to be a highly choreographed dance form. No experience required. This class is designed to provide you with a confidence boost and improve co-ordination with musicality, not forgetting how to strut like a true diva. It features a mixture of sharp and fluid movements similar to dances seen in music videos.

LYRICAL CONTEMPORARY

An expressive dance form with a free, artistic and creative feel.

Lyrical dance is a modern dance form which fuses modern dance, jazz, and ballet. This form is often referred to as contemporary dance. This style of dance uses expression and emotion to portray images, lyrics and feelings through the art of dance.

STREET

An improvisational, hip-hop inspired, active dance style.

Street evolved outside of dance studios in any available open space, such as streets, dance parties, block parties, parks, school yards, raves, and nightclubs.

Street dance is used to describe all the hip-hop and funk dance styles such as breakdance, popping, locking, hip hop and house dance, which are still alive and evolving within the hip hop culture today and are seen regularly in music videos.

ACRO DANCE

Creating elegant, acrobatic routines.

Acro is fun, energetic and great for fitness. Students will be taught how to forward roll,

backward roll, hand stand, head stand, cart wheel, round off and much more. Creating routines with expressive lifts and elegant dance moves to music.

BODY CONDITIONING & STRETCH AND TONE

This class combines all aspects of fitness to give you the ultimate full body workout. (Aerobic, body weight, core, stretch).

This class is to increase strength and flexibility needed for all types of dance. Core strength is so vital for the growing bodies of the students in order to reduce the chance of injury and to promote overall fitness and, posture and wellbeing.
